[CONNOTEA] Online Reference Management Tool

 Connotea(Free online reference management)는 웹에서 참고문헌 및 인용을 관리할 수 있는 편리한 툴입니다.(by Nature Publishing group)
 Connotea에 register 후, 'Bookmarklet'과 'My library'링크를 브라우저 툴바에 등록해 두면, 웹 상에서 논문이나 각종 참고자료들을 view하다가 언제 어디서든 쉽게 북마크를 관리할 수 있는 기능을 제공합니다.

 Connotea의 장점, 특징  몇 가지를 소개하면 다음과 같습니다.

1. Share references with your colleagues easily.
 
 'My Library'에 저장된 북마크들은 Connotea web에서 관리(Connotea is a web-based service)되기 때문에, 다른 사람들(colleagues)과 쉽게 공유(share)할 수 있는 장점이 있습니다.
 * 어떤 research를 하는 중에 같은 주제로 Connotea를 쓰는 다른 사람들의 북마크 내용들을 보고,새로운 아이디어나 미처 찾지 못했던 유용한 자료들(relevant materials)을 얻을 수 있습니다.

2. 내가 관리하는 북마크 관리의 옵션은 3가지
 
  - Open Public (전체 공개)
  - Share with a 'Selected group' (특정 그룹과 공유)
  - Private (비공개)

3. Automatic Fillout Service

 Reference를 관리하기 위해서 cut, paste를 할 필요 없이 브라우저 툴바의 Bookmarklet 링크를 클릭하면 Connotea에서 Title, URL, 서지사항(Author, Journal names 등)을 자동으로 입력되어 저장이 됩니다.

* 북마크 한 자원에 대해 tag(eg. 프로젝트 이름, 주제어 등), 간략한 Comment  및 사이트 설명만 직접 달아줍니다. 나머지는 모두 자동으로 입력되어 편리합니다.

4. Desktop Reference Managemers(참고문헌관리SW,Tool)와의 연계
 (Reference can be exported to or imported from desktop reference managers)
  각 reference를 하나씩 import, export 할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, Batch 방식으로 여러 개의 참고문헌을 한꺼번에 처리(import, export)할 수 있습니다.
  - RIS
  - BibTeX
  - EndNote
  - MODS

 
5. Firefox에 저장된 즐겨찾기(Batch 방식 가능),
    Web에 있는 모든 자원의 링크를 Connotea에 저장, 관리 할 수 있습니다.

6. RSS in CONNOTEA 
   CONNOTEA에서는 모든 article(the newpage)에 대해 RSS 서비스를 제공합니다.
   비슷한 관심분야의 사람들이 만들어 놓은 Individual user lists, 특정 카타고리 아래 정리한
  'Connotea Bookmarklet'을 브라우징 하다가 관심을 끄는 Article이 있으면 그에 대한 RSS를 구독
  할 수 있습니다(각 화면 상단에 "RSS icon" click)

 Getting Started with connotea is quite simple.

 The quickest way to add an article or web page to your library is to use the “bookmarklet”.

 To install the Connotea “bookmarklet”, go to your library,

 And click the “bookmarklet” link in your toolbox.

 The most convenient thing to do is to put the bookmarklet into your favourites bar, so that it is always available.

 To do this you may need to make the toolbar visible first.

 Go to the View menu, select “Toolbars” and make sure that the “Lock the Toolbars” option is unchecked.

 Then go back to that menu and make sure that the “links” option is checked.

 This makes your favoraites toolbar visible.

 Now you can create the bookmarklet.

 Click and hold down on the “Add to Connotea” link, and then drag it onto the toolbar.

 Your browser might ask you if you are sure you want to add this link.

 The bookmarklet can only be used for Connotea, so it is perfectly safe and you can click “Yes”.

 You have now installed the Connotea bookmarklet.

 It’s also convenient to create a favorite for your Connotea library page for easy access.

 To do this, simply drag the “My Library” link onto the toolbar as well.

 You can save a paper to your Connotea library while you’re reading it.

 Here’s a Pubmed article page: to add a page like this to your library, click the “Add to Connotea” bookmarklet once.

 The add form will pop up.

 As you can see, in this case, Connotea has recognized the site and automatically filled in the article’s bibliographic information for you.

 Now choose some tags to describe the article.

 You can think of tags as categories into which the articles falls, or like folder names for storing related articles.

 You can also enter a brief description or a comment about the article if you wish.

 Now click “Add to my library” and you’re done!

5. Article과 같은 정보자원을 브라우저에서 읽다가 언제든지 toolbar에 있는  “Add to    Connotea”를 클릭하면 bookmark 생성이 되는데, 논문의 서지사항을 Connotea에서 자동 으로 인식하여 저장해 주기도 한다.

6. My library에 bookmark를 잘 정리하기 위해 직접 Tag를 부여하거나 정보자원에 대한 간략한 설명을 추가할 수 있다.
